Direct answer
Ask about lead time, who designs vs who bakes, tasting policy, venue setup, weather contingency, eggless/vegan/nut-free splits, who attends the cutting, decoration outsourcing, ingredient sourcing, photography rights to use the cake image, refund and rescheduling terms, and whether the delivery person is the baker or a third-party courier.
Wedding cakes are the highest-stakes baking we do. The cake is on camera, it cannot be redone if something goes wrong, and the guest list often spans multiple dietary preferences. Twelve questions before you put down a deposit:
1. How far in advance do you need the brief? We need 6 weeks minimum for tiered cakes. Less than that means we can't taste with you properly.
2. Is the person designing the same person baking it? In smaller bakeries, yes. In large ones, no. Ask specifically.
3. Do you do tastings? We do two rounds at the kitchen before the brief is locked.
4. Who delivers and assembles at the venue? Our driver is also a junior baker: they carry a repair kit. Some venues hire a banquet team who handles cake delivery via a third party. Avoid the second option for tiered cakes.
5. Weather contingency: what if the venue is outdoor and it's 38°C? Fondant survives, buttercream sweats. Plan for indoor display before serving.
6. Eggless / vegan / nut-free split policy: can different tiers have different recipes? Yes. Standard for us.
7. Who attends the cutting? If you want the baker at the venue, ask. We send the head baker to cuttings within an hour of our kitchens.
8. Is decoration outsourced? Sugar flowers and edible images sometimes come from specialists. We make our own sugar flowers in-house but use a specialist for edible photo prints.
9. Where do ingredients come from? Real butter from Hatsun, eggs from a Coimbatore farm we audit, vanilla beans from Madagascar via a Coonoor importer.
10. Photography rights: can we use your cake image on Instagram? We will tag you if the cake goes on our feed. Tell us if you do not want it shared.
11. Cancellation and rescheduling terms. Documented at /refunds. Wedding cakes are the strictest: 14 days notice for a full refund.
12. Final payment terms. 50% on design lock, 50% three days before delivery. No surprise fees.

Can you match a Pinterest reference exactly?
We don't copy. We will use the reference to understand what you love about it and design something closer to your occasion.
How do you handle cakes that need to wait three hours at the venue?
Tiered cakes for outdoor events get a refrigerated stand or a dedicated cool display. We coordinate with the venue's banquet team.
